Two T-shirts can use the same 100% cotton yarn and still feel completely different — because one is 160 GSM and the other is 250 GSM. Fabric weight affects:

What Is GSM, Exactly?
GSM (also written g/m²) is the weight in grams of one square meter of fabric. In the factory we verify it with a circular sample cutter and a precision scale: cut a standard 100 cm² swatch, weigh it, multiply by 100. Incoming fabric that misses the agreed GSM by more than a small tolerance (typically ±5%) is rejected before cutting.
GSM to oz Conversion
US suppliers often quote ounces per square yard (oz/yd²). The conversion is simple: 1 oz/yd² ≈ 33.9 GSM. So a “7 oz tee” is roughly 240 GSM, and a “12 oz hoodie” is about 400 GSM.

Start with 240–260 GSM tees and 400–440 GSM brushed-fleece hoodies. These weights photograph well, feel unmistakably premium, and justify higher retail pricing — while staying producible at a low 50-piece MOQ per style.
For basics and volume programs
180–200 GSM tees and 300–330 GSM hoodies balance cost and comfort for everyday lines, uniforms and merch drops.
For premium and limited drops
280–300 GSM garment-dyed tees and 460–500 GSM bonded or heavy fleece hoodies create pieces that stand out physically — often paired with washes, puff print or dense embroidery.
